Milwaukee: hankr's top-10 dishes from August

The last official summer month has passed in the blink of an eye! You know what that means...hankr's top-10 dishes for August! This month runs the gamut from irresistible burgers to clever takes on mac and cheese. Check out what dishes have become your new favorites to drool over and devour.

10. Loaded Nachos - Miller Time Pub & Grill

New to the top-10 are the Loaded Nachos from Miller Time Pub. They've always been a favorite, but now it's official with the title of "top-10 dish!" Crispy tortilla chips piled high with Manchego cheese, pico de gallo, scallions, cheese sauce, black olives, fresh jalapeños, guacamole, sour cream and fresh cilantro. To give it some staying power, just add chili or chicken.

9. Ham & Rolls - Gouda's Italian Deli

Let's admit it, exclusivity intrigues us all. With Gouda's only offering their special of Hot Ham & Rolls on Sundays, it's no wonder the popularity of this dish is through the roof.

8. Corned Beef Hash - Kil@wat

Corned beef graces our tables courtesy of traditional United Kingdom cuisine. Kil@wat Americanizes this tradition by adding in its own hash that combines poached egg, yukon gold potatoes, grain mustard hollandaise with the corned beef to make an incredibly satisfying breakfast.

7. Hot Pecan Caramel Rolls - Cafe Benelux

More breakfast items making our list, woohoo! Switching to sweet after savory, Cafe Benelux out does themselves with a dish made for indulgence. Four warm cinnamon rolls served with syrup and maple butter and topped with pecans. *swoon*

6. Bacon Beer Cheese Macaroni - St. Francis Brewery

You will never go back to traditional mac & cheese after tasting what St. Francis does with theirs. The answer to bacon is always, "yes". Just as the answer to creamy macaroni and cheese is a always a resounding, "yes". What happens when they're combined, you ask? One of these bad boys: "YAAASSSSSSSSS!"

5. O.D.D.  Burger - Miller Time Pub & Grill

What we at hankr like to call Miller Time Pub's "OG" - The Original Double Decker straightforwardly consists of two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce and cheese, atop a three-layer sesame seed bun. Nothin' betta'!

4. Mission Impossible Burger - Safehouse

Another burger working its way to the top! And let us tell ya, this burger don't quit! Two mouthwatering premium USDA Angus patties with smoked bacon, cheddar and pepper jack cheeses, onion rings and chipotle ranch. Complete with a "self-destruct" jalapeno relish. Watch out for this one!

3. Chicken & Waffles - Distil

Distil does Chicken & Waffles right. A buttermilk fried chicken thigh paired with a golden waffle and topped with honey-bourbon butter commands hankr-ers tastebuds to enjoy every single bite!

2. Pig Monster Sandwich - ABV Social

Coming in a close second is a relative newcomer - ABV's Pig Monster Sandwich! As intense as it sounds, defining the sandwich as a monster is actually quite accurate - Berkshire ham, bacon, and pulled pork with a Carolina gold sauce and crunchy slaw come together to create the behemoth that is "The Pig Monster".

1. Chef's Taco Platter - Taqueria El Jefe

To round out the top-10 list, it was deduced in the lovely month of August that the one thing we can't stay away from is tacos. Thankfully, with hankr, we can say that this photo does do Taqueria El Jefe's tacos justice. Choose from any of El Jefe's uniquely delicious Tuesday classics to create your personal Chef's Platter. But don't wait until Tuesday!

You done good this month hankr-ers, you done good. These were some new and exciting dishes, many of which haven't been featured in the top-10 yet, so we appreciate your new-to-you discoveries and can't wait to see your next favorites.

Until next time, hankr team signing off!
